Allow Vote on Landfill
The initiative process can be the only method by which voters move elected officials to action.
At this particular moment, the issue concerning the Weldon Canyon landfill is not that of the landfill itself. It is the issue of whether or not the voters of the county are to be allowed to vote on an issue vital to their welfare.
For years we have heard the fantasy proposals ranging from recycling everything to shipping the rubbish to someone else’s back yard. To date we have had no reliable dates of attainability of total recycling nor any solid consumer cost for rail haul.
A solution to our rubbish problems must be effected, and since Weldon Canyon has been identified in the environmental document as the preferred location, at least let us vote.
