Northwest Opening: HomeBase, the Irvine-based home improvement chain that recently closed some stores to boost its profitability, will open a new warehouse in Vancouver, Wash., this weekend, HomeBase President Allan Sherman said.
The new warehouse covers 105,404 square feet of space, along with a large nursery and a drive-through lumber yard. It will employ 110 people.
Sherman also said that HomeBase employees have donated $177,000 to the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. HomeBase is a member of the City of Hope Hardware-Home Improvement Industry Council. The medical institutions are in Duarte, about 25 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
