New Video Games Accessory Touted: 3DO Co. will go for a larger share of the video game market by upgrading its disk-playing system with an accessory based on the PowerPC microprocessor, its chief executive said. The 64-bit M2 Accelerator, to be available in late 1995, will play advanced games with improved graphics as well as the games for the current 32-bit Interactive Multiplayer. “We’re the only guy out there today with an advanced system, and we expect to stay in the lead,” said Trip Hawkins, the Redwood City, Calif., company’s president and chief executive. He said Sega, Nintendo and Sony also plan to come out with advanced game systems over the next year but that their products won’t play the games in use today.
