Former Journal Editor May Go to Time Warner: Norman Pearlstine, a former executive editor of the Wall Street Journal, is reportedly a leading candidate to succeed Jason McManus as editor in chief at Time Warner Inc., the world’s largest magazine publisher. Pearlstine would be the first outsider to hold the job if he were selected for the coveted post, which oversees such magazines as Time, Sports Illustrated, People, Money and Fortune. The decision is up to the Time Warner board. McManus, 60, has held the job for nearly eight years, occupying a post previously held by Henry Luce, Hedley Donovan and Henry Grunwald. He is expected to retire soon and reportedly has been taking an active role in recommending a successor.
