Hurricane Iniki Blamed for Kauai Power Outage
Associated Press
HONOLULU —
The island of Kauai was without electricity for about two hours early Friday, apparently a long-delayed blow from Hurricane Iniki.
Power went out at 4:54 a.m. and was partially restored by 7 a.m., Civil Defense officials said. No serious problems were reported.
The power outage was caused by the fall of a static wire, which was believed to have been damaged during the hurricane two years ago but did not fail until now, officials said.
