MID-CITY AREA : Joint Redevelopment Meeting Planned

Share

The seven project area committees that voted last month to consolidate their efforts into one large redevelopment zone will meet jointly at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the multipurpose room of Pio Pico Elementary School, 1512 S. Arlington Ave.

Representatives of the seven commercial corridors will discuss the next steps in forming a redevelopment zone: preparing a draft preliminary plan and forming one elected joint-project area committee for the entire zone, which will oversee drafting and implementing a redevelopment program.

Committee members will begin prioritizing projects and pinpointing redevelopment goals, said Community Redevelopment Agency spokeswoman Gail Anderson.

The commercial corridors forming the tentative redevelopment zone include the Greater Mid-City Revitalization Area, which is bounded by San Vicente Boulevard on the north, Venice Boulevard on the south, West Boulevard on the east and La Brea Avenue on the west, as well as commercial strips along Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Crenshaw, Pico and Venice boulevards.
