Nation IN BRIEF : GEORGIA : Ted Turner Has Lip Skin Cancer Excised
Broadcasting executive Ted Turner announced at a graduation ceremony in Atlanta that he has skin cancer, then left, saying he was scheduled for surgery. Turner, 55, was to give the keynote address at Georgia State University’s commencement, but he spoke for less than five minutes. “I’m going straight from here to a skin cancer operation,” Turner told the students and their families. “The one piece of advice I can give you is put on sunscreen and wear a hat.” A small cancerous growth on his lip was removed in an Atlanta doctor’s office. A spokesman said his prognosis was good.
