Assistance League Volunteers to Meet

Share

Volunteers for the Assistance League of Saddleback Valley, a broad-based community support group, will meet Sept. 7.

The organization takes on a wide range of needs from social work to library fund-raising drives in the South County area and is looking for people who can volunteer.

The meeting will take place at the Mission Viejo Country Club, 26200 Country Club Drive, at 9:30 a.m.

Assistance league members are focusing much of their energy toward the Operation School Bell project, which purchases and distributes clothing to children in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and the Capistrano Unified School District.

Children who need clothing are referred to the program by administrators and social workers in the two school districts.

The organization also runs a senior meals program that delivered 980 meals to elderly persons last year.

The league’s latest project is a push to help at the Mission Viejo and Lake Forest library branches. Volunteers mend worn and broken covers, and shelve and label books.
