Diaz Trio to Open Historic Sites Music Series

The 15th concert season of the Chamber Music in Historic Sites series begins Oct. 28 with the West Coast debut of the Diaz Trio, appearing with Los Angeles pianist Delores Stevens at the Doheny Mansion (1899), 8 Chester Place, downtown.

Subsequent events, totaling 25 concerts in this winter season, and sponsored by the Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary’s College, feature the Parisii Quartet, the Novacek-Staples-Landauer Trio, Chandos Baroque Players, Sequentia, Philharmonia Virtuosi, Brentano Quartet (Los Angeles debut), the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Sextet, Theatre of Voices Chamber Choir, Western Wind, Meridian Arts Ensemble, Kapell Trio and Pacific Classical Winds.

Among solo artists appearing on the series are flutist Hubert Laws, tenor Robert White, trumpeter Harry “Sweets” Edison, oboist Washington Barella and guitarist Roberto Aussel.

Sites hosting these events include McKinnie House (1928), Lincoln Heights Jail (1949), Killaurel (1991) in Pasadena, San Gabriel Mission (1771-1806), Mission Inn (1902-31) in Riverside, the Radisson Hollywood Roosevelt (1927) and Silvertop (1957).
