The search continued Sunday for an elderly Chatsworth man with Alzheimer’s disease who has been missing since Thursday, police said.

John F. Ward, 68, walked away from his Chatsworth home and has not been heard from since, said Officer Ingrid Braun of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division. His family has distributed flyers asking people to call if they see him.

Ward is six feet tall, weighs about 210 pounds and wears glasses, police said. He has white hair and a full white beard.

When he disappeared he was wearing khaki shorts, a blue sweat shirt, maroon socks and walking shoes, police said. He wears a medical bracelet with his name and telephone number on it.

Ward has been reported missing on other occasions in the past, Braun said.

“He just walks, and he doesn’t know he’s lost,” she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Devonshire station at (818) 756-8285.
