Litton’s Guidance & Control Systems division in Woodland Hills, which makes electronic guidance systems for the military, said it has received an $18.4-million contract from the U.S. Navy for production of 22 surface combat ship navigation systems.

Litton will manufacture the systems, called AN/WSN-5 Inertial Navigation Sets, in Salt Lake City and will begin delivering them this winter.

The systems will provide information about location, speed and heading of combat ships, and will connect to the Global Positioning System space satellite network. The systems also provide data for aligning Tomahawk cruise missiles and Harrier attack jets.
