Tragedy Ends Couple’s New Start
Frances and John Magill had known each other casually for years, and met again and fell in love after their first spouses died.
He was 77; she was 74.
Eight days after their wedding, their car was struck after John Magill ran a red light, police said. His wife died at the scene and he died three days later. The other driver was not seriously injured.
The couple got married Aug. 20. Between them, they had six children and 18 grandchildren from their first marriages.
Their families had welcomed the union.
“She was like a kid again,” said Frances Magill’s daughter, Lauralee Harrington. “She was just so happy and glowing and looking forward to a good 20 years of marriage.”
“They were quite remarkable,” said John Magill’s daughter, Cathy Good.
