HOUSTON —
The bees that attacked an 86-year-old man and three other people in Texas last weekend have been identified as Africanized “killer” bees, authorities said Tuesday.
J.C. Johnson, 86, a retired Presbyterian minister, was stung about 1,000 times after disturbing a hive while mowing his lawn Saturday in Georgetown, police said.
Johnson’s son, J.C. Johnson Jr., 59, was stung about 500 times after coming to his father’s aid. A police officer and a paramedic also were stung. All were treated and released from a hospital.
