Unocal to Begin Phase 2 of Gas Field: The company said it will spend $423 million to develop the second phase of the Jakrawan natural gas field in the Gulf of Thailand. In a news release, Unocal Corp. said the second phase is designed to boost total production of its Unocal Thailand Ltd. unit to more than 850 million cubic feet of gas a day, starting in the last quarter of 1996. It said the total field is estimated to hold about 600 billion cubic feet of gas and more than 11 million barrels of condensate.
