* Charles A. Laverty has been hired as president and chief executive officer of Davstar Industries Ltd., a Costa Mesa manufacturer of disposable medical plastic products. Laverty takes over positions relinquished by Davstar’s chairman, Jerry Silver, who will concentrate on new products and further growth through acquisitions. Laverty, 49, who was hired after a three-month search, comes with a reputation of being able to spur a company’s growth, Silver said. The new president is expected to help Davstar increase sales of its existing product line, Silver said. Laverty was chairman, president and chief executive of Curaflex Health Services Inc. in Ontario and helped to merge that company with three others in July to form Coram Healthcare Corp., which is temporarily based in Newport Beach.

* John W. Adams has been appointed chairman and chief executive of Regency Health Services Inc., a Tustin operator of specialty health-care facilities. He succeeds Cecil Mays, a co-founder of the company, who is retiring from day-to-day involvement with the company after its merger with Care Enterprises Inc. He will remain a member of the Regency board of directors. Adams is the former chairman and chief executive of Care Enterprises. Richard K. Matros, president and chief operating officer of Regency, will succeed Mays as a member of the executive committee of the Regency board.

* Philip A. Edwards has been appointed managing director of Platinum U.K., a wholly owned subsidiary of Irvine-based Platinum Software Corp. Edwards succeeds Ronald Drake, who has left the company.
