Max Kaminsky; Jazz Trumpeter Played in Many Styles

Max Kaminsky, 85, jazz trumpeter who brought a New Orleans style with blues overtones to Chicago. Kaminsky, who was associated with the Chicago trumpeters of the 1920s and 1930s, appeared regularly with top swing and Dixieland performers, including Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and Bud Freeman. He moved to Chicago in 1928 to work with Jack Teagarden, Gene Krupa and Eddie Condon. In the 1950s, he played for television and at Ryan’s, a Dixieland club in New York City.
