Learn About State Programs to Help Buyers

The state of California just might be able to help you buy your first home.

Find out how at the Los Angeles Times’ Low-Down Home Loan Expo to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Burbank Hilton Convention Center, 2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank.

Learn about loan programs from the California Housing Finance Agency (CHFA), including a 3% mortgage and a new “Generation Link” program that lets parents use the equity in their home to help their children with a down payment.

And the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) offers a 5% down program and a no-down option for members who work for state government and meet other qualifying criteria.

CHFA and CalPERS representatives, as well as experts on many other government and commercial loan programs, will be on hand to explain their mortgages. The expo also will feature question-and-answer panel discussions and exhibitor booths.
