CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —
Illinois’ defense held Missouri to one first down Saturday in a 42-0 victory.
Missouri (0-2) has lost 17 consecutive road games, dating to the final game of 1990. The Tigers managed only 46 yards total offense to 540 for Illinois, which also had 30 first downs. Missouri’s only first down came with 3:39 to play.
“I’ve been around a lot of great defenses but I’ve never gone that far into a game without giving up a first down,” Illinois Coach Lou Tepper said.
