Except for a name change and expanded horizons, the three Ventura County offices of Carlson Travel Network/Your Travel Center probably won’t be affected by the recent merger of Carlson’s parent company and a French firm, Wagonlit Travel, a Carlson executive predicts.

The merger between Minneapolis-based Carlson Travel Network and Paris-based Wagonlit (pronounced Wagon-Lee), announced last spring, created a worldwide travel empire with $10.8 billion in annual sales.

“We’ll probably expand our services to international travelers, but our personnel and basic operations shouldn’t change,” said George D. Eubank, Carlson’s newly named district sales manager for Ventura County.

The franchises in Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme will, however, be renamed Carlson Wagonlit Travel.

They’re part of a 15-unit chain in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. The independently owned group expects its 1994 sales to total $40 million, Eubank said.
