EU Jobless Rate Drops Modestly: The rate of unemployment in the European Union edged down to 10.8% in July, the second consecutive drop from the peak of 11% in May, according to Eurostat, the European Commission’s statistics office. In a separate report on European employment, the commission warned that too many Europeans remain unemployed and that joblessness is not declining fast enough.
