Four men robbed a United Parcel Service driver at gunpoint and ransacked the truck searching for computer equipment Wednesday, police said.

After making a delivery on Goodyear street at 4:05 p.m., the driver was forced into the back of his truck and tied up by three robbers carrying handguns, according to Sgt. Jeff Kermode of the Irvine Police Department. They drove the van about a mile away to 7 Morgan street, while a fourth youth followed in a black BMW, Kermode said.

The robbers rifled through the UPS packages, apparently looking for computer equipment, Kermode said. Unable to find any computer goods, they took the driver’s wallet and an unspecified number of packages.

Witnesses told police they saw the men, described as Asians in their early 20s, loading packages into a maroon full-size Chevrolet pickup with a camper shell.

The driver, who sustained minor injuries during the robbery, called police from a nearby business, Kermode said.

No arrests have been made in the case, Kermode said. Police are continuing the investigation.
