Grants: Pepperdine Receives $32 Million
The John C. Tyler Trust has granted Pepperdine University $32.5 million, the largest single financial contribution in its 57-year history.
The university was named the chief beneficiary of the trust after the death of Alice Tyler last spring. She was the wife of John Tyler, co-founder of the Farmers Insurance Group, who died in 1973.
The Tylers were active in establishing a $150,000 university-sponsored prize for environmentalists as well as a student center on campus.
