Interim Fire Chief James A. Ballard, a department veteran, will officially accept the Fire Chief badge permanently today.

Ballard, 47, was appointed to replace Fire Chief Raymond Brooks on Sept. 12. He has served as interim chief since April, when Brooks became San Jose’s fire chief.

“Over his 25 years of service to the Alhambra community, and in the past several months as interim fire chief, Ballard has proved a skilled firefighter and able leader,” City Manager Julio Fuentes said.
