Kenny Perry made a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole Saturday for a share of the third-round lead with Mark McCumber in the rain-soaked Hardees Classic in Coal Valley, Ill.

Perry and McCumber shot five-under-par 65s for 12-under 198 totals. Curt Byrum was a stroke back after a 65.

First-day leader Robert Wrenn was tied for the lead going into the 18th hole but had a double bogey after hitting his tee shot off the fairway and following with a poor pitch.

Wrenn’s disappointing finish and a 67 left him at 10 under, tied with Mike Donald at two shots back. Donald shot a 64.

The start of the round was delayed 3 hours 12 minutes by heavy rain. Split tees and threesomes were used to speed up play at waterlogged Oakwood Country Club, which has been hit by bad weather since the tournament started Thursday.

The low round Saturday went to Michael Bradley, who had an eight-under 62 to move within three shots of the lead. His round was one shot off the tournament record.

Second-round leader Neal Lancaster, without a bogey in the first two rounds, finally made one on the eighth hole. He had another at 14 and fell three shots off the pace.

Larry Gilbert birdied six holes in a row on the back nine to tie Jim Dent for the second-round lead of the Brickyard Crossing Golf Championship in Indianapolis.

Both shot seven-under 65s, tying the course record in the senior PGA event.

Five players--Tom Wargo, Simon Hobday, Mike Hill, Graham Marsh and Isao Aoki--are a stroke back at 66.

J.C. Snead is the only player at 67. Six players shot 68.

Friday’s first round was washed out by rain.

Saturday’s play was played under “winter rules,” with players allowed to lift and clean balls in fairway lies, contributing to the low scores.
