OXNARD : Aquarium Allies Seek Funding for Study

Share

Promoters of a commercial aquarium in Ventura County will ask the county’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday to chip in $6,000 to finance a $16,000 study on the aquarium’s possible exhibits and programs.

In a letter to the board, Supervisor John K. Flynn urged his colleagues to help finance the study, which would also look into the design and operation of an aquarium in Oxnard.

The project calls for construction of the facility on county-owned land. Promoters say they expect the aquarium to become the largest tourist attraction in Ventura County and to be named Channel Islands Harbor Aquarium.
