MORE FROM LONDON: Sinead O’Connor has assembled a new band, but don’t put down deposits on concert tickets yet. The group will back O’Connor on a series of TV and radio appearances in the U.S. this month to promote her new “Universal Mother” album, but those close to the controversial singer are still uncertain whether she’ll return to the concert stage. Her last live appearance was two years ago at the Bob Dylan tribute concert at Madison Square Garden where she was booed mercilessly by people upset over her tearing up a photo of the Pope on “Saturday Night Live.”

Meanwhile, O’Connor has contributed her song “Three Babies” to the compilation album “A Woman’s Heart 2--The Fiery Musical Pulse of Ireland.” The record is a follow-up to a collection of Irish women singers’ music released in that country two years ago that is still a Top 5 seller there. On the new album, O’Connor is joined by Mary Black, Maura O’Connell, Dolores Keane and other folk and pop singers.
