Share

A downtown businessman has pulled out of the race for City Council.

Tim Holsten, owner of the Vaquero West Mercantile, has decided not to seek a council seat in the Nov. 8 election so that he concentrate time on his business and his family, according to one of his daughters.

Holsten could not be reached for comment.

Holsten’s decision to quit the campaign leaves nine candidates vying for three seats.

Gil Jones is the only council incumbent seeking reelection. Councilmen Gary L. Hausdorfer and Jeff Vasquez have decided not to run again.

The other candidates are: Serge Kohan, a salesman; Philipe Delgado Jr., a business owner and consultant; John Greiner, a human resource executive and Planning Commission chairman; Wyatt Hart, a retired Orange County Sheriff’s Department captain and current Planning Commission member; Mario Pina, a postal carrier; David Swerdlin, a photographer and business owner, Steven M.
