THE GOVERNOR’S RACE
* What Happened Thursday: Gov. Pete Wilson held fund-raising events in New York City. State Treasurer Kathleen Brown promoted her economic plan at a breakfast in San Francisco and during a rally at Santa Monica College.
What’s Ahead: Wilson will return to California from a two-day fund-raising trip to Washington and New York City. Brown will speak on the California economy at the Pacific Stock Exchange and at Sproul Plaza on the UC Berkeley campus.
THE SENATE RACE
* What Happened Thursday: Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Mike Huffington debated for one hour on CNN in Washington. Earlier, the Huffington campaign disclosed that property records of Feinstein’s San Francisco home contained the same racially discriminatory language as the deed of Huffington’s former home in Texas.
* What’s Ahead: The candidates remain in Washington for the windup of the 103rd session of Congress.
