Moving Quickly, Reno Air to Begin Flights from John Wayne Nov. 1

Share

Reno Air Inc., moving quickly after Orange County supervisors changed airport access rules, said Monday that it will begin five daily nonstop flights out of John Wayne Airport on Nov. 1 and add a sixth on Nov. 3.

The discount airline’s first five daily flights will go to San Jose, with connecting flights available to Portland, Seattle and Colorado Springs. The remaining nonstop flight will go to Reno.

One-way coach fares to San Jose will be as low as $34.50 for companion tickets and $49 for advance purchase, while coach fares to Reno will be as low as $44 one way.

Reno Air leapfrogged over other airlines waiting for access to the airport through its affiliation with American Airlines. The county’s Board of Supervisors voted Oct. 4 to allow such arrangements to take precedence over the airport’s waiting list of carriers wishing to begin service at John Wayne.
