STEVE KANALY MOVES TO PINE VALLEY

“All My Children” has snared Steve Kanaly for the role of Seabone Hunkle. Viewers of the defunct prime-time series “Dallas” will remember Kanaly from his longtime role as Ray Krebs.

On “All My Children,” Seabone makes a surprise arrival in Pine Valley that is sure to cause more than a little trouble for his children, Dixie Martin (Cady McClain) and Del Henry (Winsor Harmon). The half-siblings share the same father and different mothers. Just what Seabone will have up his sleeve has not been revealed, but his arrival will no doubt have something to do with his wealthy former brother-in-law, Palmer Cortlandt (James Mitchell), who dislikes Seabone.

A little background: Seabone was married to Palmer’s sister, fathered Dixie, then dumped mother and daughter to spend the rest of his life with Del’s mother, albeit without the benefit of a divorce from Dixie’s mom. Kanaly is scheduled to debut this month.

Meanwhile, film actress Camryn Manheim, who co-stars with Bridget Fonda in the upcoming feature film “The Road to Wellville,” is slated to make an appearance Tuesday and Wednesday on “All My Children” in the role of a state penitentiary prison clerk.

Also, Ellen McLaughlin of “Angels in America” will play Sheila, a prison inmate who Laurel Montgomery (Felicity La Fortune) goes to see in hopes of getting the lowdown on Jane Cox (Robin Mattson). McLaughlin’s air date is scheduled for Wednesday, barring preemptions.

There has been yet another head writer change over at “Another World.” Taking over the reins is Carolyn Culliton, who replaces Peggy Sloane (who took over in October, 1992). Sloane’s writing earned “Another World” a Daytime Emmy nomination in the best writing category last year.

Kirk Geiger’s final appearance as Kevin Buchanan is slated for Monday’s episode of “One Life to Live” (barring preemptions) because the powers-that-be intend to “age” the character. Taking over the role of Kevin will be Jack Armstrong, who is best known for his stint as Greg Nelson on “All My Children” (1986). He was also seen on “Guiding Light” and “Ryan’s Hope,” as well as the late-night series “Eden.” Armstrong is to begin appearing in early November.
