COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Rob Johnson Expected to Sit Out Again

Senior quarterback Rob Johnson is expected to sit out his second game Saturday because of the sprained right ankle he suffered at Stanford last weekend.

Johnson first was injured against Oregon on Oct. 1 and sat out the Oregon State game. Coach John Robinson indicated that sophomore Brad Otton, who finished again for Johnson last Saturday, probably will start against Cal on Saturday at the Coliseum.

Cal has also lost its starting quarterback. Senior Dave Barr suffered a broken collarbone Oct. 8. Junior backup Kerry McGonigal was inconsistent against Oregon in a 23-7 loss Saturday. . . . Paul Joiner, the Cal linebacker from Altadena who was seriously injured in an auto crash July 10 in Oakland, will rejoin his teammates for the first time Saturday in the Coliseum.
