SANTA ANA : Chancellor to Chair Santa Ana 2000 Group
Vivian Blevins, chancellor of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, has been named chair of the Santa Ana 2000 Executive Committee, a college spokesman said.
Santa Ana 2000, a coalition of educators, elected officials, business people and community members, was created to make recommendations for improving student achievement, preventing involvement with gangs and drugs, providing better access to child and health care, and offering more job training citywide.
Blevins said she would try to make Santa Ana 2000 more widely known, encourage more community involvement in the organization’s activities and aggressively seek funding for programs designed to promote education and job growth.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for me. (The group) has already done wonderful things, and we can do even more,” she said.
