NEWBURY PARK : Porn Actress Gets 2-Year Prison Term

A porn actress from Newbury Park, who lost her chance at probation because she made a graphic statement about her sexual encounter with a minor, was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison.

Laurie Arden, 45, decided not to withdraw her guilty plea to four felony charges after the judge said he would give her the minimum prison sentence. She will serve about half the sentence before she is released.

Arden pleaded guilty in September after Superior Court Judge Charles W. Campbell Jr. promised her probation. After reading the probation report, however, Campbell changed his mind because of the way Arden described two sexual encounters she had with a 14-year-old boy in April and May.

She said she seduced the boy because she felt sorry for him.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, one count of sexual penetration with a foreign object and one count of showing explicit photos to a minor.

Arden met the boy through a youth employment program when she hired him to help her move. Campbell said he chose the minimum possible prison sentence because mitigating factors far outweighed the aggravating circumstances of the offense. Deputy Dist. Atty. Tom Connors said he agreed that the sentence was fair.

“It sends a message, plus it recognizes the fact that she doesn’t have a criminal record,” the prosecutor said.
