WOODLAND HILLS : College to Overhaul Heating, Lighting

Share

A total revamping of the heating and lighting systems at Pierce College in Woodland Hills was approved by the Los Angeles Community College District board this week. The project is expected to start in the spring and take 18 months to complete.

“I believe it’s one of the ways our college will be able to make our classrooms a better learning environment,” Pierce President Mary Lee said of the project.

Funding for the project will come from a long-term loan of nearly $3 million in bonds from the state Public Works Board.

Because the new systems will be less costly for Pierce to run, the school plans to pay back the loan with the money it saves.

The new heating units to be installed are able to have air conditioning added to them easily and inexpensively, officials said.
