Bruin Batchkoff Told to Back Off

Share

Here’s to Frank Batchkoff. A guy who played four years at UCLA during which time the team won two Rose Bowls, a Fiesta Bowl, a Freedom Bowl and seven of every 10 games it played. A guy who claims, “Donahue was our Achilles’ heel.” Frank would look for the manure in a room full of ponies. Ninety-five percent of the I-A schools in this country would love to have the record that Coach Donahue has established at UCLA. By the way, Frank, didn’t you sell your Rose Bowl tickets this year to a Wisconsin fan?

I found it interesting that Bill Dwyre would solely quote Frank Batchkoff (Oct. 16) as a largely “credible” source in the assessment of Terry Donahue’s coaching ability.

Frank would be well served to take a closer look at Donahue’s track record.

I was fortunate to start one year at quarterback for UCLA and will always be able to look back on being a small part of a team that won a Fiesta Bowl against Miami and three Rose Bowl championships.

Maybe my memory is clouded, but I recall our coach creating an air of team confidence and readiness.
