Hidden Valley resident Robert D. Nesen, former ambassador to Australia, will be honored as a “world citizen” by the Ventura County World Affairs Council, a council official said.

Former Vice President Dan Quayle and Arco Chairman Lodwrick Cook are scheduled to present the award to Nesen during the “Passport to Tomorrow” conference Thursday at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

James R. Wilburn, former dean of Pepperdine University’s School of Business and Management, will also be honored as a world citizen.

The World Affairs Council’s board of directors selected the two for their “significant contributions to international relations,” council Executive Director Cynthia Cooke said.

Nesen served as ambassador to Australia and to the tiny island country of Nauru during the Reagan Administration. He is chairman of Nesen Motor Car Co. in Thousand Oaks.

Wilburn, a Malibu resident, was dean from 1982 until August, 1994. He has been active in efforts to reform the Russian economy.
