Tiny Villa Park, one of the smallest cities in Orange County, has schools, shops, a City Hall--but no churches within its boundaries.

City Manager Fred Maley said a lack of land is a reason the upscale community of 6,400 residents is without a church of its own. “Most of the available public land was already taken up by the four schools in the city,” he said. Villa Park covers 2.1 square miles.

A city-issued publication states that while “there are no churches within the city limits, . . . most denominations will be found close by.”

In some cities, church groups operate out of schools or storefronts. Maley, however, said he knows of no such ad hoc churches operating in Villa Park.
