ANAHEIM : Anyone Can See He Loves Disney

George Reiger’s love for Disneyland may be only skin deep--but that’s saying volumes.

Reiger, a 40-year-old postal worker and part-time magician from Easton, Pa., has 303 tattoos of Disney characters or landmarks on his body.

The self-proclaimed No. 1 Disney fan said he plans to have 500 tattoos within the next two years.

“And that will probably be it. I’m running out of room,” Reiger said Tuesday from his 11th-floor room at the Disneyland Hotel, where he was unpacking for his 54th visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Tattoos might not portray a wholesome image to everyone, but Reiger doesn’t fret. During visits to Disney theme parks here and in Orlando, Fla., Tokyo and Paris, visitors usually clamor to see the authentic figures gracing his flesh, such as Mickey Mouse, Snow White and even a Mighty Duck.

“I haven’t worn a short-sleeved T-shirt in 13 years,” Reiger said, referring to the time he got his first tattoo, a Fantasia scene. His most recent tattoo--a dragon from Sleeping Beauty--was applied Thursday.

Reiger’s devotion to Disney extends beyond his body. His house contains about 8,000 Disney items, from bedspreads to kitchen tiles.

He said he has spent more than $400,000 on travel, memorabilia and other items. Besides the 54 visits to Disneyland, Reiger said he has been to Disney World 75 times and to Euro Disney and Disney Tokyo twice each.

Reiger has been married five times. His previous four wives could not tolerate his zeal for Disney, he said.

He has two daughters, ages 9 and 13, who are also Disney fans.

“This is my love, my life, my religion,” Reiger said. “People think I’m crazy.”
