Schools: Teachers Helping Students

Share

I was delighted to read your extensive coverage of Broadway Elementary School (“Frowns Turned Upside Down,” Oct. 6). In the midst of a neighborhood plagued by sporadic gang violence, the principal, teachers and other school staff are offering an island of hope for their wonderful students.

Too often people will give up on a school because of the conditions around it. Your article showed how a school can focus positive energies from throughout our community and make a real difference for children. I hope your coverage will motivate more people and organizations to come forward and offer their assistance to Broadway and other schools throughout the Westside. There is no better investment of our time and energy.
