Share

Cal Lutheran University celebrates its 30th anniversary today, with plans for homecoming festivities ranging from a parade in Thousand Oaks to a nostalgic gathering of alumni on the set of the old television show “Gunsmoke.”

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and proceeds down Memorial Parkway to Kingsmen Park for a picnic at 11:30 a.m.

At 1 p.m., the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen face off against the Pomona-Pitzer football team.

After the game, alumni from all classes are scheduled to gather for a homecoming party featuring hayrides, food, dancing and music. The post-game party begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Cal Lutheran stables, north of Olsen Road.

The theme is “Return to Dodge City” because the old television show “Gunsmoke” was filmed in the Wildwood development near the campus. The old set will be re-created at the stables for the party.

Reunions for the classes of 1964-65, 1969, 1974, 1984 and 1989 will be held at the homes of alumni and faculty at 8:30 p.m. Information: the University Relations office at 493-3151.
