Countywide : Motorcyclists to Carry Toys to Orangewood

Share

Motorcyclists are invited to join a convoy carrying toys and donations Sunday to a home for abused and neglected children in Orange.

The benefit is expected to draw more than 300 motorcyclists, said Pete Linton, an Irvine police investigator who heads the event.

In addition to gathering toys for the Orangewood Children’s Home, the ride will honor Tom and Marcy Smith, an Irvine couple killed last summer riding on the Oregon-Washington border.

The event--sponsored by a chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. and the Irvine Police Assn.--is open to all makes of motorcycles.

Riders should bring a $1 donation and a toy gift for the children, who range in age from infants to teen-agers.

Registration will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at the La Quinta Inn, 14972 Sand Canyon Ave., Irvine.
