Violinist Roger Wilkie has been appointed concertmaster of the Mozart Camarata effective Sunday; he replaces Clayton Haslop. Wilkie, who also is concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera and the Long Beach Symphony, has appeared as a soloist with the Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra, the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. A founding member of the Angeles String Quartet, he is on the faculty of Pomona College.

Cirque du Soleil will hold auditions Nov. 9 to supplement its touring troupe. Especially sought: those with experience in modern dance or ballet, and athletes experienced in gymnastics, trampoline, diving, acrobatics and freestyle skiing.
