Rockwell Development Could Save U.S. Millions

Rockwell International’s Science Center in Thousand Oaks has been honored for developing a computer circuit board production system that could save the government $800 million annually.

The system, called Solder-Scan QC-100, reduces costs and production time by 60%, Rockwell estimated The system was honored as one of the year’s top scientific achievements by R&D; magazine.

Rockwell has 360 employees, including 200 engineers and scientists, at its campus-like facility on Camino dos Rios.

In addition to saving time and money, the new process increases computer efficiency and reduces hazardous wastes, according to Rockwell spokeswoman Joy Sabol. The parent company, based in Seal Beach, has annual sales of $11 billion.
