Tustin : Schools Put Out Call for Instruments, Music

Share

If you have a violin or a cello lying idly somewhere, Tustin students would love to have it.

The Tustin Unified School District is also in need of books and sheet music for middle and high school students participating in an after-school instrumental music program.

Brad Lantz, director of student services, said the program will begin this month for students in grades six through 12. Classes will meet in the evenings twice a week at Columbus Tustin Middle School through spring. A parent meeting is set for 7 p.m. today at Columbus Tustin.

The goal is to form an orchestra that will perform at least one concert a year and attend the Southern California School Band and Orchestra festival, according to Jim Kollias, band teacher at Columbus Tustin and project coordinator.

Those interested in donating may contact Lantz at (714) 730-7325 or Kollias at (714) 730-7352.
