CHATSWORTH : Student Critically Burned in Photography Lab Fire

Share

A Chatsworth High School student was critically burned Thursday and two of her classmates were hurt in a photography lab fire that apparently involved rubber cement ignited with a cigarette lighter.

Paramedics took the injured, believed to be 18, 17 and 16 years old, to West Valley Hospital and Health Center after the 1 p.m. accident at 10027 Lurline Ave., according to city fire spokesman Bob Collis.

Shel Erlich, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Unified School District, said “apparently some rubber cement that is usually used in putting photos down onto backing somehow ignited.” He said the student most seriously injured was burned on her back.
