Brea Police Will Use 2-City Patches and Logos
Thanks to a new patch on their uniforms, Brea police officers will no longer look out of place as they patrol Yorba Linda.
Although the city has contracted with Brea for police service since 1970, the current uniforms for the Police Department do not indicate that Brea police officers also patrol Yorba Linda.
The new patch will include the names of both cities as well as artwork that reflects logos of the two cities. Capt. Jim Winder, the department’s liaison with the city, said the patches should be on the uniforms of all 102 officers by Dec. 1.
In addition to the patch, which was requested by the City Council, the department’s patrol cars will sport a new logo. Currently, the cars have both cities’ names on the rear doors. The artwork will add the two city seals to front doors. Recently, the City Council urged the Brea police to establish a stronger presence in the city, including development of a citizen support group and opening an administrative office. The department also is considering the assignment of community-oriented patrol teams to the city.
