A pretrial hearing for a Little Tokyo businessman accused of running a prostitution ring last year is set for Nov. 16 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Yoshifumi Koike, charged with two felony counts of pandering and one count of pimping, faces up to eight years in prison if found guilty, said Deputy District Atty. James Dabney. Koike pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Koike, 34, a Japanese citizen who lives in Monterey Park and holds a resident visa, was arrested in October 1993. He is free on $25,000 bail.

Detectives said that while Koike was operating a legitimate graphic design firm, Zero Graphics, he also allegedly ran an escort service that catered to Japanese businessmen.
