Warmington Homes Appoints Chief Financial Officer

* John R. Garlington has been promoted to chief financial officer for Warmington Homes in Costa Mesa. He has been with the company since 1986 as assistant controller and controller. Before that, Garlington was with Peat Marwick in Charlotte, N.C., and worked as a financial analyst and assistant controller for National Medical Homecare.

* H.L. Sparks has been appointed vice president for Platinum Software Corp.’s operations in North America and the United Kingdom. Before joining the Irvine financial software company, Sparks was president of H.L. Sparks and Associates, which provided sales and marketing services to companies in the computer and communications industries. He also has been vice president of sales and service for Compaq Computer, and spent 20 years at IBM.

* James W. Kerrigan has joined Pinnacle Micro Inc., an Irvine manufacturer of optical storage systems, as chief financial officer. He had been financial officer for PDA Engineering for six years. Kerrigan also served as vice president and chief financial officer for Ceradyne Inc., a high-tech ceramics manufacturer; chief operating officer of Wham-O Manufacturing Co., and controller at Mattel Toys.

* Robert Kimball has been appointed senior vice president-sales and marketing for Adaptive Software Inc. in Irvine. He was formerly vice president and general manager of network management products for Central Point Software.

* Jack Osborn has been appointed to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of the A/V Group of Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America Inc. in Cypress. His position was created in conjunction with plans to merge the marketing and operations of the Consumer Electronics Group with the company’s television engineering and manufacturing facilities in Braselton, Ga., and Santa Ana. Osborn has been president of the Consumer Electronics Group since 1993. In addition, Howard Borsa has been promoted to vice president of product development and merchandising for the Consumer Electronics Group, and Max Wasinger has been appointed vice president of national retail sales. Borsa had been vice president of sales for the eastern United States, and Wasinger was regional vice president of sales for the western half of the country.

* Greg Briggs has been selected vice president of the World Waterpark Assn. for 1994-95. Briggs is vice president and general manager of Wild Rivers Waterpark in Irvine, and president of the California Waterpark Assn.

* Jan H. Segers has been appointed general manager of the Pan Pacific Hotel in Anaheim. He previously served as director of operations for Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts. Segers joined Pan Pacific in 1985 as resident manager in Vancouver. He then become general manager of the hotel chain’s Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and then hotel manager at the Hawaiian Regent Hotel in Honolulu.

* Robert M. Quellmalz has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for LifeLink/PacifiCare Behavioral Health in Laguna Hills. He was previously vice president of sales, major accounts for Blue Shield of California. LifeLink is a subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems that provides programs for the treatment of mental health and chemical dependency disorders.

* Tom Allen has joined Upsonic Inc., an Aliso Viejo manufacturer of uninterrupted power systems, as marketing manager. Before joining the company he was president and chief executive of Blue Sky Direct Advertising in Temecula.

* Daniel J. Tacheny has joined Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide, North American Group, Select Brands Co. as manager of the Western division. He is based in Newport Beach. Tacheny previously served as a vice president of Heublein’s Wine division.

* Mike Terrell has been appointed vice president of new products for Ingram Micro Inc., a Santa Ana-based wholesale distributor of microcomputer products. Before joining the company, he was vice president of product marketing for National Computer Distributor in Hollywood, Fla. Terrell has also been vice president of products for Synnex in Fremont.

* Dave Nichols has been promoted to marine facilities manager for the Newport Dunes Resort Marina, responsible for the 430-slip marina. Succeeding him as dockmaster is Wade Kerley, who had been assistant dockmaster.

* Robert Bagby has been appointed chief executive of General Automation Inc., an Anaheim computer company. He will also continue as president, a post he has held since February. Leonard Mackenzie, who was chief executive for more than 10 years, will remain as vice chairman of the board and will focus on business development activities for the company.

* Gene Long has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president, global logistics for Burlington Air Express in Irvine. He was previously director of worldwide logistics for Dell Computer. Before that, Long directed transportation, warehousing, import/export, private fleet and international trading activities for Intergraph Corp., a manufacturer of engineering workstations.

* John T. Whates has been elected president of the Assn. for Corporate Growth for 1994-95. He is a partner at Deloitte & Touche. The association is a nonprofit corporate development organization.

* Margaret L. Jenkins has joined Morrison Lee & Stevens, an Irvine advertising and public relations agency, as senior vice president. She was formerly director of international marketing at Taco Bell Corp. Before that, Jenkins was vice president of marketing for Denny’s Inc.
