Roaming into downtown Orange is a little like stepping back in time.
The Old Towne Plaza is home to 46 antique shops that radiate from the city’s famous traffic circle at Glassell Street and Chapman Avenue.
The 47th shop is due to open next month.
The ambience of the historic plaza, which was founded in 1876, creates a nice setting for an antique district, according to David Connelly of the Old Towne Antique Assn.
The 70- and 80-year-old buildings are perfectly designed for small antique shops, he said.
The antique boom began in 1972 when Marty Burns opened her shop on Glassell called Marty’s Things.
