GOINGS ON : Week’s Events Include Films, Festivals and Neil Simon Play : Royal Robbins will share his climbing adventures and a parade down State Street will mark Veterans Day.

To take in everything Santa Barbara has to offer this coming week, one would have to be in tip-top shape, with all that running around and driving back and forth from Ventura County. So consider kicking off the action with a guy who just might inspire one to achieve peak physical condition.

Royal Robbins, the first person to complete a solo climb of Yosemite’s El Capitan, will discuss his climbing and kayaking adventures as well as his mental approach to daily life at 7 tonight at Santa Barbara’s Museum of Natural History.

UC Santa Barbara’s Real Life documentary film series will continue Friday with “Bob Marley: Time Will Tell.” The life of the reggae superstar, who died of cancer in 1981 at age 36, will be seen in film clips and concert footage. Show times are 7 and 9 p.m. at the Isla Vista Theater, 960 Embarcadero del Norte. General admission is $5 at the door.

El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park will host its first Veterans Day Commemoration on Friday with a parade down State Street beginning at 12:15 p.m. The procession, with color guard, band, flags and banners will proceed from De La Guerra Street to Canon Perdido Street. The Contemporary Music Theatre of Santa Barbara will officially kick off its first season at the Lobero Theatre on Saturday with a production of Neil Simon’s “The Goodbye Girl,” with music by Marvin Hamlisch. The show will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 27. There will be no show on Thanksgiving, but an additional evening show Nov. 20. Hawaiian slack key guitar greats Ray Kane and Keola Beamer will perform at Santa Barbara’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $12 advance, $14 at the door. Jimmy Keigher and Donnie Macdonald, a.k.a. Men of Worth, will bring their Irish/Scottish “’94 Reunion Tour” to Santa Barbara on Saturday in a concert at Sierra Hall. The show, which will include a demonstration by members of Oxnard’s Claddagh School of Irish Dance, is a fund-raiser for the Santa Barbara Irish Festival. Traditional music, dance, storytelling, and pottery and basket-making demonstrations will be featured in a presentation of “Traditional Arts of Baja California’s Native Communities” on Saturday at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Violinist Christine Frank has joined the Anacapa String Quartet, UC Santa Barbara’s quartet-in-residence, in time for the ensemble’s concert Sunday at the university’s Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. The program will include Mozart’s “String Quartet in C Major,” Britten’s “String Quartet No. 3,” and Mendelssohn’s “String Quartet in f minor.” The concert will begin at 8 p.m. General admission is $10 at the door.

Thirty-four clothing designers/artists will showcase their handmade wearable art at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s Winter Wearables Preview Fashion Show and Luncheon on Monday. Designers represented have had their clothing on sale at Santa Barbara’s Elizabeth Fortner Gallery or were selected from among the entrants in the annual American Contemporary Crafts show in Baltimore. Conductor Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos will lead the 94-year-old Vienna Symphony Orchestra in concert on Tuesday at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theater, in a presentation by the Community Arts Music Assn.
